Introduction to Culturally Relevant Pedagogy:
In Delpit’s writings she calls for educators to take the children as they are and create educational experiences which they can connect to personally.  This video narrated by Jacqueline Irvine from Emory University addresses the concept of the culturally relevant pedagogy and what it means to teachers in the classroom. That educators are called to be “cultural translators” which make appropriate linkages between the students and what they need to know and understand.
